The soon to be held New Zealand Marine Cup: Kiwi Kawau Challenge is reported to have Alloy Yachts Ltd as its first official sponsor. The chairman of the New Zealand Marine, Export Group, Mark Wightman has expressed his delight at having the Alloy Yachts, world’s best superyacht builders from New Zealand, supporting their event. He further adds that there are many more firms in New Zealand who wish to support the program as sponsors.

On the 4th of March, the first race NZ Marine Cup will begin in Aucklands Hauraki Gulf. It will be followed by the new Louis Vuitton World Series on 9 March. The NZ Marine Cup will witness participation of sail and motor superyachts and their crews in a one-day race and will also be enjoying the post race social gatherings. Alloy yachts will soon commence with the registration procedure, as already many superyacht captains have shown their interest in joining the amazing race. The organization already has the NZ Marine Millennium Cup running for superyacht regattas for more than one race. However, the superyacht event – NZ Marine Cup will be a new sailing trophy for one-off events only.

During the Kiwi Kawau Challenge, the participants will begin sailing from the start line off Devonport Wharf inside Auckland Harbour to the finish line off Bon Accord Harbour on Kawau Island. This will be followed by a prize-giving ceremony, BBQ and entertainment.
