One major item in successful yacht building is the yard itself with its facilities. With the yacht competence centre located in Hamburg Blohm + Voss Shipyards possesses covered docks which offers ideal circumstances for new building as well as for the refit of yachts up to nearly 200 m (650 ft). Additionally one covered dry-dock with a capacity of approximately 300 m (980 ft) can be used in Kiel.
Blohm + Voss Shipyards is a company within the ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems. As management holding company, Hamburg-based ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems parents the new shipyard group, bundling staff and service functions which are furnished to the various companies.
The group comprises today Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft GmbH, Kiel, TKMS Blohm + Voss Nordseewerke Gmbh, Emden and Hamburg, Blohm + Voss Shipyards GmbH and Blohm + Voss Repair GmbH, Hamburg, as well as Kockums AB, Sweden, and Hellenic Shipyards S.A., Greece.
Today, the shipyard delivers some of the finest, most sophisticated vessels afloat.
