Essentially, the latest Index takes an in depth study into how 2008 performed for the superyacht industry, which was actually a ‘bumper year’. Even in the stressed economic climate, particularly during the second half, there was a lot of positives in the luxury yachts industry. Indeed 2008 proved to be an excellent year overall – with an unparalleled level of luxury yacht sales and yacht charter activity.
The worldwide equities and banking problems started to take serious effect around September 2008, which was after much of the summer boating season had finished. Accordingly, the question on everybody’s lips is what will 2009 bring?
Worldwide superyacht company Camper and Nicholsons have already begun their research for the third installment of this invaluable report – due out in 2010. Being the largest worldwide yachting company – and also one of the most trusted – Campers is in an ideal position to produce the Yachting Index.
