Interior Designer Statement in the words of Peter Hawrylewicz, founder of PH Design.
Goal:
-Design a state of the art sailing yacht for the owner’s family that best reflects their modern spirit.
Concept:
-Highly customized environment concordant with the boat’s exterior, warm and modern, singular in its class.
-Spatially open, with clean lines and intense detailing. A large variety of natural materials all held to a subtle muted palette.
-An interior that will show a modern art collection to its greatest advantage.
-A yacht that is elegant, but not stodgy; exciting, but not preposterously so.
-Working closely with the Owner, we wanted to create an interior that would be perceived as special and original in the yachting world. For example, we decided that the boat should have titanium ceilings to softly bounce the light and to compliment the muted tones of the American Ash millwork.
The titanium is picked up in other areas of the boat including the doors and the custom hardware. Another unconventional decision was to forego any built-in storage credenzas along the sides of the main salon and dining area in lieu of 12 very large alligator travelling trunks. The trunks are suspended off of the floor with cast titanium straps. The overall effect is modern with a remote reminiscence of old world travel; the allure lies in the confluence of these two temperaments.
Synopsis:
To have created at the end of the day, a boat that is comfortable, beautiful, and perhaps even memorable. My hope is that we will have succeeded in bringing something new and fresh to the world of yachting. The Owner, as always, provides the inspiration for going beyond the boundaries of the status quo. He contributes the rational for striving beyond our basic gratifications. Sybaris is the manifestation of that belief.
