Port Ghalib in Egypt under the management of M.A. Kharafi Group has successfully reached 40% of its construction work. This project estimated to value US$2 billion is through with the initial phase by building a huge conference center, many retail and commercial outlets, an international marina, four hotels namely ‘The Palace’ by Intercontinental, ‘The Oasis’ and ‘The Sands’ by Crown Plaza and ‘Marina Lodge’ as well as a extensive residential offering. The hotels are functioning and the houses are ready to accommodate people. On completion, the first phase is expected to cover an additional 19 hotels, besides a yacht club, an 18-hole golf course and other multiple entertainment amenities and services.

The Gulf Incentive, Business Travel and Meetings Exhibition (GIBTM) to be hosted in Abu Dhabi from 29th March to 31st March 2010 at ADNEC will witness the presence of Port Ghalib too. This will enable Ghalib to represent their conference and exhibition services for organizations in the Middle East. Formerly, Port Ghalib has organized many large delegations from international associations at its huge conference and exhibition center that can house more than 1550 people at a time.

Also known as MICE in the Gulf and Middle East region, GIBTM is committed international event for the business travel and meetings sector. The business of MICE totals up to 11% in Egypt, 8% in Abu Dhabi, 8% in Dubai and 9% in Lebanon (approximately) which is expected to increase upto 18% within the upcoming two years according to the published report.

Peter Riddoch, CEO, Port Ghalib, Egypt highly content at their participation at GIBTM stated that Port Ghalib has a range of amenities to offer. It would include the high-tech conference facilities, hotels, and marina properties. The other reason making it important to market MICE is that it offers a chance for organizations like these to introduce new conference and exhibition destinations. Their team is successful at promoting their properties world wide through their various International sales offices.

Mr Riddoch further added that they have included a broad category of studio, one, two and three bedroom apartments and villas at Port Ghalib for residential purposes and their prices begin from US$80,000. All of these residential homes differ in size but are entirely furnished. There are 517 sq.ft. studio apartments and 3391 sq.ft. Arabian Villas. There is lots of scope for making investment besides the regular options of service, retail and entertainment businesses. Port Ghalib includes a spectrum from participatory opportunities with the main developers in core project components, to land purchases for secondary developers of resort hotels and residential communities.

The Kuwait based M.A. Kharafi Group is the brain behind this project. It is an international conglomerate with a rich experience of more than 50 years in the fields of engineering; construction; tourism; leisure and hospitality; banking and investment; real estate and infrastructure development; aviation and food industries. Port Ghalib with an amazing total area of 8 million m² in the first phase is the first of its kind developed by M.A. Kharafi Group. This Group originally occupies s a total area of 30 million m² extending along 18 kilometers of pristine seashore.

Even at the Dubai International Boat Show, Port Ghalib was present to divulge details on its marina properties. Moreover, Port Ghalib International Marina also leads the way in being the premier official international tourist port of entry into Egypt and has been active since 2002. It houses up to a surprising 1000 yachts which are up to 50m long. The success of the company can be established with its involvement at the Dubai boat show for the second consecutive year. This seasoned company has also participated in other shows like the London International Boat Show and the Dusseldorf Boat Show.
