Superyacht PEGASO could be the world’s largest and most advanced private (expedition or explorer yacht) research vessel and at her 73m length will easily stride straight into the world top 100 superyachts.

The 73.1m oceanographic motor yacht PEGASO has been kept top secret till now and she was last week launched at a private ceremony with 150 guests in Spain at the Freire Shipyard.
The builder of expedition yacht PEGASO was the Freire Shipyard in Vigo, Spain. M/Y PEGASO has some very interesting features: she is equipped with submarine and she is capable of a 10,000 nautical mile range – or equidistant to motoring from Spain to Australia and back before refueling. Underway she can reach a maximum of 17 knots with a capacity for 32 people, including crew and scientists.
The modern new expedition and research yacht PEGASO being an explorer yacht will be equipped with a multitude of equipment including a 9 metre long submarine which has the capacity for six people to dive up to 165 metres deep. This oceanographic research submarine is kept aboard the vessel in a 150 metre square hangar was actually built custom at an Italian Shipyard in Trieste. The sub is powered by electric propulsion and can reach a surface speed of 8kts and a submerged speed of 6kts.
The yacht owner of PEGASO is thought to be a well known Mexican Family who are extremely passionate about the sea and he is understood behind ‘Grupo Pegaso’ which is a very a successful telecommunications business.
For the yachts’ owner is a full dedicated upper deck private owner’s deck which covers 120 square metres. The son of the yacht’s owner, Patrick Burillo, as also in attendance at the launching ceremony as well the Jean-Michel Cuosteau, son of legendary investigator sailor Jaques Cousteau.
Superyacht PEGASO is an extremely volumous expedition motor yacht with a beam of 13m. This allows the luxury explorer yacht to accommodate the research specialists and requisite oceanographic scientific equipment. The ships accommodation areas, crew and scientists are in fact accommodated in a 328 square meter area and there are large areas designed as places dedicated for scientific equipment and a separate laboratory.
