Superyacht Singapore Association, a non profit association formed in 2007 by a representative superyacht industry group with the priority objective of promoting Singapore as a Superyacht destination and a hub to create economic value for Singapore in the superyacht industry, recently announced a number of important updates for its upcoming 1st Asia Superyacht Conference. For the first time a conference of such type has received full backing from the Singapore Government. Moreover, Mr S Iswaran, Minister of State for Trade & Industry and Education will be the conference guest of honor and will make a keynote address on the first day of the conference.

In the past few months, after the announcement of the conference date, there has been a tremendous growth in the feedback received. A number of new speakers have also been added to the program. They include:

David McQueen, President of Superyacht Base Australia
Murray Hird, Manager, Superyacht Base Darwin
Scott Walker, Asia Pacific Superyachts

The conference is also receiving a global recognition and this can be seen by the addition of two more speakers from. Moreover, Superyacht Base Australia is also an Official Supporting Association for the conference and are expected to bring a large delegation. The conference will include a dedicated stream session on Australia and New Zealand which will run in parallel to a stream on Indonesia. The two sessions will then merge for a large panel discussion on the creation of an integrated cruising route between South East Asia and Indonesia through to Australia and New Zealand.

The conference will have over 25 speakers and panelists from over 15 countries around the world including USA, UK, Netherlands, Germany, Australia and Asian countries.

The response to the conference shows the critical need of the foreign countries for a road map to the yachting industry in Asia. There are at present 100 participants from over 30 countries around the world and the number is growing every day. This shows that not only is the world taking note of opportunities in Asia and wanting to understand specific ways of being part of its superyacht market but also how regional players are creating new ventures and collaborations that ultimately lead to the growth of the industry.

The conference, sponsored by MTU will run from October 13th to 14th with an optional marina visits tour on the 15th at ONE◦15 Marina Club at Sentosa Cove, Singapore.
