Oyster marine has announced that there first Oyster 100 superyacht will be launched in the summer of 2010. The yacht came out of the mould on 14th September 2009 and since then has been undergoing post-curing of the hull and secondary structure in RMK’s purpose built 40m oven. In late October, the keel stub was attached and the yacht was weighed to determine longitudinal and vertical centers of gravity.
Results of the test done on yacht proved that the infusion process had not only produced a homogeneous and strong laminate, but had also controlled resin flows well and resulted in a +100A1 strong Lloyds Classification hull. At just over 20 tones the structure weighs about 75% of the equivalent hull in aluminum, an amazing reduction in the weight that the infusion process can deliver.
The yacht will undergo internal wood work construction over the next few months and will be then ready for the rapid installation with the unique fully floating construction method that reduces noise and vibration. Panning to launch the yacht in the summer of 2010, Oyster aims to exhibit the yacht in 2010 Monaco Yacht Show.
Oyster 100-02, one of the oyster series is now already sold and hull moulding has also started. The fit-out starts early next year and the yacht will be launched in 2011. The moulding of Oyster 125-01 starts at the end of January 2010, and will be launched at the time of 2011 Monaco Yacht Show.
