Service personnel at Westhaven-based marine engineering specialists, General Marine Services, have been undergoing advanced training in the latest marine pumping systems.
The training included a detailed presentation from Gianneschi Pumps and Blowers’ Alessandro Gianneschi. Based in Italy, Gianneschi Pumps and Blowers’ are one of the world’s leading manufacturers of high quality marine pumps and pumping systems.
General Marine Services’ director Roy Chalton says the training was necessary because of the increasingly sophisticated nature of marine pumping systems.
“Marine pumps and pumping systems are becoming more and more specialised, especially on larger boats and superyachts,” he says. “Our staff has to know exactly what pumps to recommend for every on board application – and there could be dozens.
“Today’s boat owners and skippers rightly want to know that the pumping systems we recommend and install are the very best available, that they are perfectly suited for the job they are going to do and that they will keep doing that job for a very long time.
“We ensure that happens by rigorous in-house training and regular visits from international experts like Alessandro Gianneschi.
“It is part of our commitment to ensure customers get the best possible products, service and advice at all times.”
