New York – 17.06.09 – J Class Ranger and Hyperion own their respective events in the IRC performance and the traditional Pursuit Classes in the recently held Super yacht Cup Ulysses Nardin. The racing on the final day was thrilling and highly exciting to say the least. The competitive spirits were high and the event was cracking in the windward leeward racing that was held in the Palma Bay.
In the process Hyperion lifted the famed Bent Cleat Trophy. Not to remain far behind the Ranger picked up the Yachting World Performance Trophy and won the final Abu Dhabi race.
“Ranger is the replica of the yacht of the same name built by Harold Vanderbilt for his successful defense of the America’s Cup against Sir T.O.M. Sopwith’s Endeavour II in 1937. Ranger proved to be the fastest J Class ever created”, said one of the organizers of the event. ‘This racing legend was recreated by Danish Yacht in their shipyard in Skagen, in a composite of high tensile and grade A steel, to Lloyds Classification, the MCA Code of practice for the safety of large commercial yachts and the J Class Association Rules”, he went on to say.
In the year 2004, five years back, Ranger also won the prestigious award for the best technical achievements in the 15th Annual Show Boat Awards held. More than anything else her superb finish contributed to such success. Team of Danish Yacht working closely with naval architects and the interior design teams created the best luxury interior with incomparable joinery skills. The rare combination of the traditional quality and the contemporary approach made the work a depiction of high technical excellence.
The Management hopes to keep the tradition of high quality alive in the years to come.
