Caribbean Island of Jamaica, one of the most popular destinations amongst luxury yacht charter customers. Only a little while ago, to explore the island, the visitors were constrained to use the local knowledge or a map.
However, this has changed, as the tropical archipelago’s first satellite navigation device was released.
JAMNAV, the GPS navigation system is produced by the Mona GeoInformatics Institute at the University of the West Indies in Jamaica.
This device gives voice and visual instructions, enabling the visitors to navigate around 9,300 miles of road. More than 15,000 point of interest are preprogrammed into the JAMNAV unit, given users the tool to get where they want without getting lost.
About 150 pre-programmed attractions will allow the users, who know what they want to see in Jamaica, to punch in the destination and JAMNAV will show them the road.
