The 52 m superyacht is an exciting new development which is sure to receive plenty of attention from large sailing yacht enthusiasts around the world. A modern performance cruiser with a ketch rig for easy handling, the 52M combines the Jongert values of old with the latest thinking in terms of sailing comfort. The Jongert yachts ingenious layout includes a wonderful aft beach-club zone and full access to outdoor areas without needing to use the side decks.

As part of their renewed approach Jongert’s new management team has challenged various leading designers to create their ‘ultimate Jongert’. The Jongert 5200M that will be unveiled in Düsseldorf is the first fruit of this innovative concept.

The Modern Line of designs was the response to those who sought something different and has been developed with leading naval architects such as Tony Castro, Doug Peterson and Rene van der Velden. The Modern Line shows a distinctive shift towards positive sterns and a more performance orientated approach. Sleek modern lines are combined with a sloop rig to create boats that look and sail faster. Van der Velden on the Jongert 52m: “This is an exciting and sleek yacht that combines the Jongert values of old with the latest thinking in terms of sailing comfort.

A leading edge in terms of performance.
She synthesises all the clearly identifiable elements that made the Jongert brand so renowned around the world look & feel with a range of features that ensure a leading edge in terms of performance. Jongert yachts have always been known for their exceptional reliability and safety, and Van der Velden’s ingenious layout on the new 5200M goes even further in ensuring the wellbeing of guests.

A separate passageway alongside the wheelhouse allows people to move between the various al fresco sitting areas without having to use the side decks, such as from the inner aft cockpit to the forward sunbathing area for example.

A wonderful beach-club zone
Another sophisticated feature is a wonderful beach-club zone, including a large stern sunbathing platform, wet bar, shower, and toilet. This area is also accessible directly from the four guest cabins. The 5200M also features a spacious owner’s stateroom and very generous crew facilities.

Naval architect René van der Velden comments on the Jongert 5200m sailing yacht design:

“This 5200M is a typical Jongert. In the past you recognised a Jongert sailing yacht from a great distance. In this design we have reintroduced that recognisability and it’s our vision on the well-known classic Jongert yachts. The own range of yachts can be seen as semi custom built. Accepting that everyone has his own priorities and ideas of how to use this yacht, we work closely with each and everyone of our clients to identify the characteristics that are important to them and incorporate these into the yacht’s design.“

Three core aims with the 5200M Jongert sailing yacht are luxury, comfort and privacy. “A good example is the beach club zone”, comments Van der Velden. “This zone includes a large sunbathing platform, a wet bar, a shower and a toilet. This area is accessible directly from the four VIP guest cabins. Another example is the fact that we have made a special passageway alongside the wheelhouse connecting the different sitting areas and thus preventing the use of the gangways. Via the passageway you can, for instance go directly from the wheelhouse on the after deck to the sunbathing area on the front deck.”

This larger luxury sailing yacht can utilise her aft deck for stowage of tenders and toys, with two jet skis on one side and a RIB on the other side. This frees up the superyacht’s foredeck for containing a swimming pool or a larger custom tender. The foredeck also features the spacious sunbathing area.

Folkert Brongers, general manager of Jongert Shipyard comments: “Traditionally the emphasis of the shipyard is on the development and construction of sailing yachts and this will be its main activity. Jongert is one of the only Dutch sailing yacht builders with its own range of yachts and has always been top of the line as far as sailing yachts are concerned. We will continue to do so. The motor yacht line is available and will be extended in addition to the existing line of sailing yachts and refitting of yachts will also be one of the activities.”
