This September, coatings specialist Jotun will be inviting superyacht captains to join forces with fellow industry professionals for a candid discussion of the issues consistently raised in the paint industry, following on the success of last year’s inaugural event. The Captains’ Coating Forum will be held from 2 – 3 September, 2014, in Juans les Pins, France, and will offer a one-and-a-half day programme of comprehensive conferences, workshops and social networking, and will include a repeat of last year’s activity that was a hit with all attendees – the Jotun Grand Prix.
The event, like last year, will provide attending captains and industry professionals with a multitude of networking opportunities
The event is targeted primarily towards captains – those at the fore of the refit and new build process and those with first-hand experience of any problems that occur during the paint process – as well as project managers, consultants, owners’ representatives, senior yacht managers and industry decision makers, and will offer valuable face-to-face time with key industry players with knowledge and expertise in the paint sector. The event’s comprehensive programme will provide a chance for captains to acknowledge and share what is working and what isn’t, and to dissect how the industry has changed in the 12 months following last year’s Captains’ Coating Forum.
With a plethora of industry professionals bemoaning crew’s understanding of the full paint process, the first day will include a breakdown of the process from contract to post-application in ‘The Perfect Paint Process’ presentation. As well as a number of group presentations, the first day will also see two breakout sessions, where captains and industry players will be encouraged to sink their teeth into two of the paint sector’s most pertinent topics – the process of bidding for a paint contract and a yacht’s maintenance and after-sales refit programme. The following morning will offer an introduction to the industry’s experts in this sector – the superyacht industry’s coatings consultants – following which attendees will have the chance to put their questions to the industry in Q&A forum.
Last year’s event gave the industry the chance to hear from those at the fore of the paint process – the captains – and this year’s event will do the same
Part of the event’s success among last year’s attendees was its entertaining social programme and this year will be no different. The first day of the event will close with the ever-popular Jotun Grand Prix, following which Grand Prix wins and overtakes can be discussed and contested at length during the Captains’ Coating Forum barbecue, which will also offer attendees the chance to share their thoughts on the day’s engaging programme.
The one-and-a-half day event is free for captains to attend. Transport and accommodation is not included, however help with travel arrangements is available. Anyone interested in attending should contact Emma Tower of Superyacht Events at emma@thesuperyachtgroup.com or on +44 (0)207 924 4004.
