During the trials the performance of the 24-metre dream yacht Bliss with a beam of 5.85 metres proved entirely satisfactory both to the design engineers from beiderbeck designs in Bremen and to the international crew of project assistants and suppliers.
As might have been anticipated from the computer animations, the Bd80 luxury yacht Bliss emerges from the seaport into the Mediterranean as a real head-turner, sitting lightly and elegantly on the water. Her black windows stand out sharply against the metallic white paint of the hull; the long, low stripe of black glass below the rail gives a hint of what lies behind. The seating group here offers unimpeded all-round sea views without the presence of a deck saloon to offend the owner’s eyes. This concept alone is impressive enough without the many other technical and artistic refinements integrated into this handsome 80-footer.
Beneath blue skies, in a calm sea and a moderate breeze this glass and carbon fibre composite yacht displacing around 36 tonnes surges forward immediately, carrying nearly 300 m2 of sail (Incidences) on her carbon rig (Hall Spars). Everything from the main boom furling system to the APM lifting keel (2.70 to 4.40 metres) and magic trim cylinder responds immediately at the touch of a button, precisely and reliably.
