When Paolo Caliari of Caliari Yacht Inc designed a new superyacht, few thought it could become a sensation in the coming days. However, when the super yacht was completed from construction, everyone marveled at the exotic beauty it displayed.

Partnering Caliari in the project was the team of Turkey’s Proteksan Turquoise Design and Jean Guy Verges.

“While Proteksan Turquoise Design took the responsibility of building the super yacht and Jean Guy Verges took the responsibility of interior designing, Caliari took the overall responsibility of the combination of the two”, commented one of the spokesmen for the company.

The Proteksan Turquoise 176’ motor yacht Leo Fun, sister ship of yacht Vinydrea, was successfully presented at the Monaco show last year in 2008. Paolo CaIiari created the design concept for the Proteksan-Turquoise design department, and Jean Guy Vergès designed the interior of superyacht Leo Fun to feel like a posh Italian club. The explorer style motor yacht has ample deck spaces that are ideal for entertaining guests.

An extended swim platform, finished in teak, provides ample space for sunbathing. A multi-purpose passerelle transforms into a crane or stairs according to need. The cleverly conceived layout, which omitted one of the side walkways on the main deck, makes for a particularly voluminous lounge.

Leo Fun’s master stateroom, forward of the main deck, features a study and a private deck. The lower deck has four guest staterooms and one full-beam VIP suite.

The crew quarters located forward of the guest area provide unobtrusive access to strategic areas of the boat. The lower deck houses laundry facilities, a walk-in refrigerated room, the bow thruster and pump room compartments.

The wheelhouse with adjacent captain’s cabin, a pantry and a panoramic dining room and lounge occupy the upper deck. The sun deck features a very large Jacuzzi surrounded by sun pads and protected by the wraparound windshield and an electric retractable awning.

The Yacht’s Statistics:
LOA: 176’8” • Beam: 30’8” • Draft: 9’6” • Fuel: 26,425 Gal.
Water: 7,293 Gal. • Max speed: 18 knots
Displacement: 680 tons • Engines: 2 x 1,911 bhp
CAT 3512B B-rating HD @1,600 rpm

The yacht was launched in January 2009. Ultimately it turned out to be the queen of the Mediterranean Yacht Broker’s Association or the MYBA. The super yacht was far ahead of the contemporary designs that made it stand out among the various super yachts that took part in the competition.

“This 54-meter explorer-style super yacht, with a 9.5 meter beam, is set apart by other yachts in her class with her highly stylish, detailed exterior design, and spacious layout”, Caliari said.

With a steel hull combined with aluminum superstructure, Leo Fun is the compatriot of Vinvdrea that was the first among the 54 meter super yacht series that were built by Proteksan Turquoise. Leo Fun can reach the speed limit of 18 knots as it is suitably powered by twin Caterpillar 3512B diesel engines. Each of these engines is rated at 1911 HP.

She has been built to ABS class and at the time she is fully MCA compliant. In results the guests can enjoy ocean travel in complete safety and comfort.

However the true excellence of the super yacht is depicted in its excellent interior design with all modern amenities available for the user combined with the fuel efficiency it provides for the yacht of its size.
