The Louis Vuitton Trophy Yacht Racing in Auckland just finished with the victory of local team Emirates Team New Zealand over Italian team Mascalzone Latino.

The event was a real success in New Zealand, being on the race village with lots of spectators coming to watch the racing live on the giant screen and to meet with the crews, or being on the race course where lots of spectator boats came to enjoy the action on the water.

Last but not least, the live coverage of the regatta with live images from the race course along with Virtual Eye, with replay every morning for European viewers, made it possible for the Louis Vuitton Trophy to reach a step further, after the concept was able to be launched in Nice last November.

All the teams are now getting ready for the next Louis Vuitton Trophy La Maddalena, Sardinina, 22 May-6 June.

And when one knows the motivation from the Italian public for these races, the Louis Vuitton Trophy La Maddalena is expected to be a fantastic event and will reach the next level.

The French-German team ALL4ONE finished the Louis Vuitton Trophy Auckland at the 5th place overall, after having improved a lot. The 3rd place of ALL4ONE in the Round Robin and the matches won against strong teams proved that the team is now really “on track”, even if there is still some work to achieve to get to the same level as the “big” teams.

Jochen Schümann, ALL4ONE’s Sports Director and Skipper: “The Louis Vuitton Trophy Auckland has been a great event in very challenging conditions.

Even finishing 5th again as in Louis Vuitton Trophy Nice, ALL4ONE has sailed a much stronger regatta. Unfortunately, we missed our chances to proceed into the semi finals.

This will be our goal for the next Louis Vuitton Trophy in La Maddalena.

We are looking forward to this next event in May in Sardinia.”

Stephane Kandler, ALL4ONE’s CEO : « Emirates Team New Zeland is the logical winner, but the competition has improved. On one match each team can win what has resulted in thrilling regattas. These dramatic races confirm the potential of this new international circuit. ALL4ONE finishes 5th losing only its semi-final berth in the ultimate knock-out race, showing improvement since the Louis Vuitton Trophy – Nice. We are competitive on one match as we managed to beat the Auckland’s finalist and the winner of the Nice stage finishing 3rd overall of the Round Robin. We must now work to perform during the whole event. The next event in La Maddalena will enable the World Sailing Teams Association to offer these great races to the European public with probably additional teams, like the 34th America’s Cup Defender BMW Oracle Racing. We wish to thank our sponsors (Geodis, Saint-Honore, adidas, Canal+, Château Tourril) for their support to our new French-German team which enables us to compete at the highest level of international sailing competition. »
