On the 16th of July 2009 in Rendsburg Germany the superyacht shipbuilder Lurssen launched the 80 metre Espen Oeino designed motor yacht NORTHERN STAR.
Motor yacht Northern Star is owned by a keen yachting enthusiast who also built and owned a 15 m shorter 63 metre Lurssen superyacht, also called Northern Star. Previously identified as Project Scout, the new NORTHERN STAR will be delivered complete and shining to her owner in October 2009.
The launched of NORTHERN STAR is an extraordinary achievement by the yacht owner and yacht builder and it represents yet another yachting dream. Following final outfitting and sea trials, the luxury long range expedition capable yacht will be delivered in October 2009.
Her large beamy hull is crafted from steel and her superstructure from aluminium. The motor yacht’s vast interior reveals a French country house design and styling was it is the design creation of Pauline Nunns and the owners, as with the previous mega yacht.
Yacht NORTHERN STAR has two 2,000kW Caterpillar diesel engines giving a 15 knot cruise speed and a a top speed of 18 knots. Northern Star will also be available on the yacht charter market with a per week price beginning at EURO 600,000 plus expenses.
