Marin LuxurYachts, the nautical brand of Factoría Naval Marín which is based in Vigo Spain, has present its first two superyachts built, a 42 metre schooner sailing yacht ELENA, designed by Acubens, and 40 metre long motor yacht, project Y0101.

Marin LuxurYachts has attempted to recover the legend of the unforgettable schooner Elena. Sailing yacht Elena is a 42 metre America’s Cup winner sailing yacht which astounded its rivals in transoceanic competitions with her speed in the early 20th century.

Classic yacht Elena is half way between naval engineering and the finest and most demanding art and her building has fired the entire shipyard workforce with enthusiasm.

The research work required to make a replica took years of study in universities and design studios. The new Elena is faithful to the yacht built a century ago by the legendary Herreshoff Yachts, the most prestigious designer of the early 20th century. Suppliers from more than ten countries have participated in this landmark of shipbuilding.

The second by Marin LuxurYachts is a 40 metre motor yacht which was built for comfort, comfort and comfort for an Italian yacht owner. Suffice to say that, for a start, the ship has static stabilisation systems that are the most advanced in the world.

Yacht presently in construction at Marin LuxurYachts, and yet to be launched include:

A second luxury motor yacht is 45 metres in length and was designed by Reymond Langton Design RLD for an experienced German super yacht owner. This motor yacht is to be delivered in 2010 with a value of EU 20,000,000.

A third 60 metre superyacht called project FNM5900 is scheduled for delivery in 2010. This 60 meter motor yacht features are a large swimming pool aw well as a glass elevator and she was contracted for construction at a value of EU 36,000,000.

A 47 metre schooner, which like Elena is a replica classic sailing yacht, makes up the final and most recent order for Marin LuxurYachts. This yacht is scheduled for completion and delivery at the end of 2010.

The luxury yacht division therefore already has four units on their order book: three motor-powered megayachts of 40, 45 and 60 metres length and a 42-metre schooner that will participate in classical sailing ship regattas. The 60-metre megayacht is for the well-known Spanish businessman Fernández Tapias. The cost of these four super yachts together with the sailing yacht Hussar amounts to 150 million euros.

With these orders also new yacht building contracts are currently being negotiated for the next four or five years, the Galician company FNM becomes an immediate competitor for the world’s principal megayacht builders such as Dutch and Italian brands like Ferretti, Lurssen and Hessen. This was the commitment announced during the foundation of the Factoría Naval Marín at the end of 2006 by the managing director of the company, Pablo Comesaña.

Comesaña is considered a pioneer in Galicia and Spain in the industry of large luxury ships. He was the first to take advantage of the naval structure of the Galician estuaries to reconvert them to the megayacht sector.

He was responsible for the construction of the first large steel yachts in Galicia, two twin 20-metre ships presented in 2003. In the summer of 2006, he presented the Centium, which at the time was the largest megayacht ever designed and built in Spain, 40 metres in length.

Currently, the FNM group industrial Factory ships and Marin LuxurYachts has an order book totalling around 225 million euros, of which half correspond to the nautical division. In 2008, FNM will end the year with a turnover of 75 million euros, and an expected annual growth of 25 percent in the next few years.

Comesaña himself is a partner in the company, as well as the Valencian businessman José María Suescun (45 percent of the shares each), in addition to a representative ten percent of the capital held by CXG Corporación Caixa Galicia. The participation of the Galician savings bank is an example of the solvency and future of the shipyard.
