Rainbow Warrior III is set to be introduced in the yacht market in 2011. Rondal, the Dutch company considers itself to be lucky enough to have got the orders for building and supplying the booms, winches, furling systems, sails, masts, rigging, deck equipment and hydraulics for the latest Greenpeace flagship. The vessel which is 58 meter long and is built to efficiently harness power of the wind will be released during the company’s 40th anniversary.

Presently, Rainbow Warrior III which is under construction at the Fassmer Shipyard in Germany is styled by Dijkstra and Partners. The yacht is built with two 45-metre high aluminum A-frame masts consisting of five hydraulically furling sails. The yacht reduces the requisite amount of rigging with these A frame masts which facilitate in making a simple rig. According to the senior account manager at Rondal, Remco Zeevaarder, manufacturing the masts with curving legs and bent mast was very interesting and challenging. Rondal, renowned for customizing its work into aluminum, will be using recycled aluminum in building the vessel.

Incorporating the new green technologies, this vessel warms water and pre-heats the engines with the help of generator. Making maximum use of the wind energy and less of fossil fuel, it ensures that the environment doesn’t get affected. The designers have made all the efforts to build and design the mast in such a way that it offers highest efficiency. The team of Rondal aims to provide the crew of this ship a very unique experience where they would have to make minimal use of the engines.

Besides the mast, the company will also be providing three booms, five hydrofurls, the standing rigging, the sails, the running rigging, eight reel winches, deck fittings, four deck winches and the hydraulic valve blocks for the winches and furlers. The company has always maintained high interest in the built and design of the various products. The Fassmer yard has chosen Rondal due to this vast knowledge of supply package that Rondal has. The completion and delivery of the rig is slated to be in the summer of 2011 and the client is expected to receive it in the winters.
