Vitter Shipyard, which already has various light weight composite hulls in its portfolio, is presently involved in the making of one of the largest carbon composite superyacht in length – a 42 meter sloop Sarissa.

This new sloop consists of Nomex core for the structure and is less complicated with lighter systems. Sarissa is considered to be the most awaited classic sail yacht owing to its composite rigging, lifting keel and lightweight construction. Tripp Design Naval Architects and Rhoades Young are responsible for the interior designing of the yacht. This 42m yacht which has a beam of 8.6m is expected to be delivered in 2011.

The draft and deck outlines of the sloop emphasize that the yacht is the best option for family yachting. This is proved when the aft cockpit can be converted into a swimming pool for the children and the accommodation on the rear side of the yacht flaunts an owner’s suite, a guest suite and a children’s cabin, which is also linked to a nanny’s quarter. The flight of stairs ahead of the main salon can be used to access the formal dining room which can be effectively combined with the galley. Sarissa also includes three crew cabins in its front zone.
