Here is a photograph I took the other day of the enigmatic sailing yacht MALTESE FALCON sailing past Monaco. The superyacht is currently for sale and may well turn up at the Monaco Yacht Show 2009 to display her very unique and often coveted abilities. Maltese Falcon is also available for charter if you would like to ‘try before you buy’: http://www.charterworld.com/index.html?sub=yacht-charter&charter=sailing-yacht-maltes ...
Owned, built and largely conceived by Californian venture capitalist yacht owner, Tom Perkins, sailing yacht MALTESE FALCON would be the most written about and photographed superyacht of the modern era. Perhaps the reason for this is the MALTESE FALCON’s radical design and technological innovations, along with her size, uniqueness and beauty. Another reason may be that the luxury yacht, being a clipper with 4 massive square sails, harks back to the old sailing times. She is a modern revival of a sailing technology which prevailed on the world’s trade route for hundreds on years.
S/Y MALTESE FALCOM was built by and launched in 2006 to a yachting fan fare which grew to mythic proportions. The luxury yacht ws designed by Ken Freivokh and built by a Turkish shipyard under the guidance and Organisation of Italian luxury yacht builders Perini Navi.
Quick Yacht Specifications:

Ken Freivokh Design was the designer for what is still one of the world’s largest (longest) privately owned sailing yachts. The superyacht was based on a Perini Navi yacht hull built by Yildiz, and itegrates a ground breaking Dynarig concept, as developed by Gerry Dijkstra and Partners.
