9-13 June 2009, Porto Cervo, Sardinia

Boat International and Yacht Club Costa Smeralda (YCCS) are busy organising the next 2009 PortoCervo Superyacht Sailing Regatta (to be held from June 9-13th, 2009). They are currently registering entrants and sponsors for the Superyacht Regatta. The yacht fleet will compete over four days on the famed emerald waters off Sardinia’s northeastern coast and will again boast many of the world’s most magnificent racing and cruising superyachts and sailing yachts.

Confirmed entries competing on the superyacht racing circuit to secure The Boat International Silver Trophy include:

Charles Dunstone’s Philippe Briand designed sailing yacht, the 36 m ‘Hamilton II’,
Claus Peter Offen’s competitive 30.5-metre ‘Y3K’, a Wally Yacht by German Frers,
Dr Thomas Bscher’s 28.55 m ‘Open Season’ another Wally Yacht by German Frers,
Marco Vogele’s Philippe Briand 31.87 m ‘Gliss’,
Alessandro Rinaldi’s Bruce Farr designed 30 m ‘Farewell’
The 47 m German Frers designed ‘Hyperion’,
The 37 m Luca Brenta designed stunning silver sloop, ‘Ghost’
Kim Schindelhauer’s Tony Castro designed 29m ‘Scorpione dei Mari’.

Other yachts are still organising their Mediterranean summer diaries with a view to participating. These yachts include:

The beautiful 49 m Nathaniel Herreshoff sailing schooner, ‘Eleanora’,
The world’s largest gaff rigged cutter, 46.3 m ‘Lulworth’,
And Barry Houghton’s award wining Ed Dubois designed 44 m ‘Salperton’.

Another important confirmed yacht includes Lang Walker’s new sailing yacht ‘Kokomo’ as designed by Ed Dubois and built at Alloy Yachts in New Zealand. http://www.kokomo.com.au/ (image courtesy of http://www.Yacht-Images.com Alloy yachts are also a Silver sponsor of the regatta. http://www.alloyyachts.co.nz Tony Hambrook, Managing Director of Alloy Yachts made the following comments about the event:

“In my mind, regattas are as important as yacht shows these days. It gives owners an opportunity to enjoy their yachts with their friends and colleagues . It also gives Alloy Yachts a chance to spend time with owners and industry professionals in a relaxed and informal way. Alloy Yachts is delighted to be supporting their friends at Boat International with their superb regatta in Porto Cervo, Italy once again”.
Tony Hambrook, Managing Director of Alloy Yachts.

Another Silver sponsor of the event is Future Fibres. Indeed, many of the superyacht yacht racing fleet boast Future Fibres rigging and the company founder Tom Hutchinson is a familiar face amongst clients on the sailing regatta circuit.

“Following the success of last year’s regatta, Future Fibres had no hesitation in expanding its involvement in this year´s event. We are expecting a significant number of our clients and their yachts to be participating and we are looking forward to a competitive regatta and some great parties!”. Tom Hutchinson, Founder of Future Fibres

As with the 2008 Porto Cervo Sardinia Superyacht Regatta the social events ashore for the 2009 event will be every bit as exciting as the competition at sea. The social program includes Skippers Briefing Welcome Cocktail at YCCS, the glamorous beach party for owners and guests at The Hotel Romazzino, an Owners Gala Dinner hosted at the YCCS and the Prize giving in the Piazza Azzurra.

Ed Dubois, from Dubois Yachts, confirms the dates of The Dubois Cup at the YCCS on the 6th – 8th June. He is expecting 8 to 12 beautiful Dubois yachts, many of which will remain in Porto Cervo to also compete in the Boat International Superyacht Regatta.

We can’t wait!
