With the commencement of the Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta 2010, all the yacht enthusiasts are now ready to witness an interesting affair involving a series of elegant yachts. This event which has already began consists of 28 yachts having elegant designs.
Spread over four days in the beautiful location of the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta 2010 will showcase five yachts namely Highland Fling, Indio, Magic Carpet 2, My Song and Y3K in the Racing Division. These yachts are likely to have a fleet start while the rest twenty three yachts in the cruising category will begin at one minute intervals on a pursuit start. Some of the stunning yachts in the cruising division are the 45m Salperton IV, the 45m Saudade, and the 31m Gliss, which was crowned the winner in 2009.
The basic idea behind the segregation of the yachts into the classes of Racing and Cruising is to increase the element of competition according Edoardo Recchi who is the Sports Director of the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda. However, the other factor of excitement at the event is its enthralling location at the village of Porto Cervo on the northern coast of Sardinia. The Club is overlooking the Piazza Azzurra and leads the New Marina which is claimed to be one of the most beautiful and vibrant places in the fraternity.
