SABDES 72.5m Motor Yacht for ICON Yachts

The latest SABDES project is a striking 72.5m Axebow luxury yacht produced to the best Northern European standards. The design is based on ICON Yachts pre-engineered 62m-77m platform (optimized hull, technical and crew areas) with Exterior Styling by Scott Blee (of SABDES), as well as a customised Interior Arrangement for all the Owner and Guest areas.

The optimised platform designed by ICON Yachts allowed SABDES significant design freedoms while benefitting from using standard hull modules, technical systems and spaces, and standard crew and service areas. These benefits translate to cost and time savings which could bring the 72.5m design into a reality quickly.

She will become one of the first offerings from ICON Yachts to include an Axebow modification to the hullform. The 72.5-meter superyacht is exceedingly spacious with an 11.4m beam and five deck levels.

Fabricated with a steel hull and aluminum superstructure the 72.5 m superyacht is powered by twin MTU 12V-4000-M71 diesel engines, each rated for 1850kW @ 2000rpm. The vessel earns her Green credentials with ICON specifying an Ecosilencer gas cleaning system to eliminate exhaust soot, and a HMSA Biological sewage treatment unit.

The Icon superyacht can accommodate 14 guests in 7 cabins: the upper deck aft is dedicated to the owner with a full beam master suite including a 360-degree turntable king-size bed, separate office for Owner and staff, and private sundeck. On the lower deck are two VIP suites and four guest suites. The four guest suites have the added benefit to be able to be turned into two conjoined rooms becoming VIP suites each with a separate lounge area.

The crew’s quarters sleep 17 comfortably in nine lower deck cabins. Generous size crew lounge and dining area are provided. The crew quarters are well appointed with a service galley and entertainment center. A hidden door gives access from the crew quarters to the guest area for service purposes. The captain’s cabin is located on an upper deck directly behind the Bridge.

This Superyacht is meant to be enjoyed. Her sundeck features a large Jacuzzi, sun-pads fwd and aft with retractable awning offering a sheltered lounge area, barbecue, bar, fridge, ice maker. The sundeck also features a touch-and-go helipad sitting atop the reinforced Bridge, for use by the owner and guests. Access to a Crowsnest is from the sundeck where guests can experience excellent vistas from high all around the yacht. On the Bridge deck below there is a Sauna room and Gymnasium and guests can transit fwd of the Bridge in-between two large upward-opening doors for the tenders in the compartment below, and down to a recessed circular seating area right at the forepeak- this seating area includes a wrap around windscreen.

The main deck has a large aft outdoor seating area with casual lounges adjoining and the Main Saloon and Dining area. Forward on the main deck is a full width informal lounge. A Cinema is accessed down two flights of stairs. A large stern platform makes an excellent sea-level sundeck with a large door opening into a Lazerette and Dive room area, with full dive equipment and bottles.

The design is a collaboration with ICON Yachts of The Netherlands built upon their optimised 62m-77m platform design. The 72.5m Axebow has dramatic Exterior Styling by Scott Blee (of SABDES), as well as a customised Interior Arrangement for all the Owner and Guest areas. Further design customisation remains with choices for the Helideck location, Bow and Transom types, and different General Arrangement. The optimised platform designed by ICON Yachts allowed us significant design freedoms while benefiting from a repeat effect through using standard hull modules, technical systems and spaces, and standard crew and service areas. The benefits translate in cost, and time savings. ICON Yachts are produced in The Netherlands by a name trusted by Superyacht owners for integrity, quality and efficiency. ICON Yachts have become a new industry leader.

The ICON 72.5m Axebow Motoryacht is exceedingly spacious owing to an 11.4m (37′5″) beam and five deck levels. Its provocative exterior is a progression on our 50m Axebow design- the extra size allowed us to integrate many new features such as a touch-and-go helideck atop the Bridge, and a twin-tender compartment and enclosed mooring deck forward.
