With Ultrasonic Antifouling Ltd’s simple low energy transducer system producing startling results even in particularly high fouling areas, this pioneering UK company has started actively expanding its international network of approved installation centres.

Whilst the system is ideal for DIY installation, the trusted marine companies forming the global network have all been trained to give the best advice on transducer location, and to both stock and fit the system to meet the exact requirements of each particular boat, whether power or sail.

Each Approved Installation Centre has been chosen for its track record in marine electronics and customer service, and is be able to offer a complete positioning service for the transducers which are strategically bonded to the inside of the hull. No through hull holes are required, so the installation can take place with the vessel still afloat.

Ultrasonic Antifouling already has a growing network of successful installers within France, Norway, Japan and Australia, and new Approved Installation Centres have recently been established in Spain, Croatia, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Holland, and Slovakia. With the effectiveness of the non-toxic antifouling now well proven in the warm waters of the Med and Caribbean, recent new installers have been established in Grenada, as well as Trinidad and Tobago.

The system has been particularly welcomed in environmentally sensitive areas, as it relies on the low energy delivery of high frequency ultrasonic waves through the hull, which prevents the formation of growth, but the ultrasound won’t harm marine mammals or leave any chemical traces. For boats connected to shore power, the Ultra dual system ensures that the system is always running, switching to batteries if the shore power temporarily trips out. The Ultra Solar is designed for boats moored away from mains connections. The small amperage required is drawn directly from daylight via solar panels (not supplied) and a dedicated control unit.

Speaking on behalf of the new Spanish sales and installation centre at Torrevieja, Costa Blanca, Kevin Richardson remarked, “We look forward to working with a company leading the way in ultrasonic antifouling. After seeing the effects of increasingly downgraded conventional antifouling systems over the years due to environmental pressures, we knew that an alternative would have to be found, especially in the warm waters off Spain. We fitted an Ultrasonic Antifouling system to a yacht in August 2009, and can honestly say that it works. We have since installed many systems to widely differing craft, and all with a high degree of success.”

For the Dutch, installer CCA Yachtservice B.V, Kees Hoek remarked, “Realising that production, application and use of conventional antifouling systems leaves a considerable environmental footprint, the innovative, cost effective and eco-friendly solution from Ultrasonic Antifouling Ltd was very appealing to us.”

Commenting on the huge global interest from established marine suppliers, Ultrasonic Antifouling’s Managing Director, David Sothcott said, “We are delighted that so many companies, especially those operating in the tropical waters of Australia and the Caribbean, are so keen to become approved suppliers. We remain very discerning as to who we trust to stock and install the brand, as we naturally aim for complete customer satisfaction and support. The environmental advantages of this non-toxic and low-energy solution have really caught the imagination of companies who love the sea and wish to preserve the environment by offering a highly effective long-term antifouling for their customers’ boats.”
