Reportedly the beautiful Wally Sailing Yacht Tiketitan 88 has exploded and burnt possibly beyond repair in a shipyard STP Palma whilst undergoing maintenance. Two refit workers were slightly injured during the disaster.

The fire on yacht Tiketitan may have been caused on the superyacht during yard work by the combustion of solvent or spray paint when the yacht was being repainted. Explosion & Fire are never good on yachts.

Wally 28m OPEN SEASON was close by to the fire and possible damage to that yacht has not as yet been fully assessed.

The devastating fire broke out at around 1500 on Tuesday 2nd February 2010 afternoon and the superyacht was on the hard in the commercial docks of Palma de Mallorca. Around 30 fire-fighters attended the blaze and foam was used to attempt to suffocate the flames.

STP repair and maintenance shipyard was the location and the Spanish media have reported that seven people were treated for various degrees of burns and smoke inhalation.

It is likely the Wally sailing yacht will be a write-off due to damage sustained. S/Y Tiketitan was designed by German Frers and built by Green Marine. Launched over 10 years ago, she is one of the original fast and easily-handled Wally superyachts, and the first Wally with a canting keel.
