Oyster’s 25th Regatta, the ‘Silver Jubilee’ event will be hosted by the prestigious Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, which is located in the charming village of Porto Cervo, on the coast of Sardinia. Established in 1967 by His Highness the Aga Khan, and twinned with the Yacht Club de Monaco and the New York Yacht Club, the YCCS also has a reciprocal agreement with the Royal Yacht Squadron (RYS) in Cowes, which has hosted several very succesful Oyster regattas in recent years.

The Oyster Regatta – Sardinia 2010 will follow a similar format to previous Oyster events, with the emphasis on a fun and friendly event for all the family, with low key racing by day and serious parties and dinners by night. As always, owners who prefer not to race are just as welcome to attend with their yachts and join in the social events.

Commodore Riccardo Bonadeo has extended a very warm welcome to all Oyster owners and their guests and crews to the YCCS Clubhouse which overlooks the Piazza Azzurra and provides breathtaking views of the harbour and dramatic sunsets over the Mediterranean. Berthing is already pre-booked for the Oyster fleet and Oyster owners attending the event can look forward to enjoying all the facilities the club has to offer.

Oyster CEO, David Tydeman, said: “We are delighted to have reached an agreement with YCCS to proudly hold our ‘Jubilee’ regatta at Yacht Club Costa Smeralda. Oyster has been building its association with YCCS since sponsoring the Dubois Cup in June 2009 and we look forward to developing the Oyster event formula with YCCS – it will be exciting to work with YCCS to refine the important difference between grand prix regattas and the family and owner focused events of which Oyster regattas are a fine and leading example.”

Oyster’s first event in 2010, The Oyster Regatta – BVI 2010, will take place in the British Virgin Islands from 12-17 April and is followed by Oyster Week, which is being organised and hosted on Oyster’s behalf by the Royal Southern Yacht Club, Hamble for our UK based owners from 28 June to 2 July and a Newport Rendezvous from 25 to 27 June for those owners heading for the east coast of the USA.
