Other than that, they will also help to invests in a scientific research and medical care, WellChild also works to offer assistance and support for families and carers.

Toby Walker from Camper and Nicholson is also running the marathon for his niece Ellen. Ellen’s Team are running the London Marathon to help fund research into curing children with neuroblastoma. Neuroblastoma is the biggest cause of cancer fatalities among babies (90% of causes occur in children under 5) and is the most common extra-cranial solid tumor in childhood.
Ellen was diagnosed with neuroblastoma in February 2009 (days before her 2nd birthday). She has battled through a year of intensive treatment including chemotherapy, surgery, bone marrow transplant and radiotherapy, and is currently the first child in the UK to be receiving a new treatment of immunotherapy (which itself is a result of charity funded research). Ellen has been amazingly brave and continues to fight this dreadful disease. Tragically, many children with Ellen’s illness do not survive.
