What makes a yacht look extremely elegant and complete are its final touches. A similar interesting product development programme is soon set for its release from Awlgrip, a company who deals with yacht coatings. This project is expected to include an array of special effect finishes which suit the needs of the customers.

According to the company, their job calls for higher degree of risk and is posed with greater challenges. Those working in the paint field need to contribute much higher than the other companies in the yacht industry, which generally launch a new tried and tested product i.e. already an invention. In the ordinary course, the professionals in this sector need to adopt extensive research to alter the products of non yacht applications in accordance to the criterion set in the superyacht yards.

However, in case of this new assignment, the company incorporated a unique method while joining hands with various eminent application connoisseurs from across the superyacht industry. In a span of 18 months, they were able to use of their expertise and exploit the existing technology within the AkzoNobel group.

An essential feature of the job of Awlgrip development chemists was to enlist the requirements of the clients for special effect finish with the assistance of their field team. With the help of the opinions gathered, they made a thorough analysis of the existing technologies in the market and their success rate. Later, they used these outcomes in building upon innovative products which easily amalgamate with the standard Awlgrip topcoat system.

Chris Toole, Awlgrip’s Global Senior Product Manager asserts that the recent product development will allow quicker delivery of new special effect finishes into the market compared to the traditional product development series. All the details pertaining to these special effect finishes will soon be launched once the firm is through with the supply logistics.
